Pectus Excavatum
Pectus or sunken chest disease, is one of the most painful surgeries performed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. At Live Well, a diverse team of researchers, strategists, and designers worked alongside clinicians, behavioral psychologists, and holistic health in creating a design strategy that improves the overall experience of patients and their families.
The process:
Understanding: ethnographic research methods
Reflection: insight translation into user journeys, personas and user stories
Exploration: literature review on pain management, adolescence psychology and digital technologies for pain management and stress
Ideation: design iterations for systems, products, and services
Validation: user testing of solutions
Refinement: applied pertinent user feedback
Final deliverables and presentation: present results and hand off production-ready design materials
